A large-scale social media analysis reveals that most Iranians strongly favor continuing the war until complete victory. While 18.2% call for an immediate end to the conflict, 61.3% of users express support for pressing on until the aggressor fully surrenders.
High Resilience: No Sign of Fatigue
Data suggests that public resilience amid the current conflict surpasses the levels observed during the Iran-Israel 12-Day War (May-June 2025). The assassination of the Iran’s Supreme Leader has further hardened public resolve to endure hardships and pursue vengeance. Mentions of words such as fear_, _doubt_, _exhaustion and _shortage_, as well as calls to end the war appear at very low frequencies —indicating these sentiments are not widely shared among online users.
Rejection of Temporary or Unstable Peace
Patterns in the data reveal widespread skepticism toward any form of temporary or ill-defined ceasefire. The majority of users support continuing the fight until the aggressors are decisively defeated. Many perceive a ceasefire without concrete guarantees as inadequate for achieving lasting security or stability.Memories of the Iran-Israel 12-Day War clearly shape this perception. Despite heavy losses inflicted on opponents during that conflict, a ceasefire was abruptly imposed without a clear framework. Consequently, adversaries were able to rebuild their arsenals, increase pressure during negotiations, and enter subsequent confrontations with greater confidence. The data suggests that many users interpret that episode as a cautionary lesson against agreeing to another ceasefire lacking robust and enforceable security provisions.
Data Sources and Methodology
The study draws from data collected between 2–4 March 2026 across both domestic and international online platforms. Since international internet access within Iran has been largely restricted since the onset of the war, posts on global social media primarily reflect the Iranian diaspora, while domestic platforms represent voices inside Iran. Taken together, these datasets offer a comprehensive view of Iranian online discourse throughout the ongoing conflict.
